where is the brake switch

Hi,

as an angry lady just told me, I have no brake lights anymore.

Riddle 1, checked _all_ the fuses and rear lightcluster bulbs to be OK, I believe the concerned fuse is marked "e" in the bible and 10 A. No brake light switch on servo or rear brake pressure limiter (this is an S3C). Is this switch somewhere underneath the car?

Riddle 2, bible and instruction booklet say reverse light and brake light are on one (switched) fuse, But my brake lights (used to) work "always" when brakes were pressed, and my reverse lights (still) only work with ignition on. I took the "e" fuse out and no reverse lights anymore. So which fuse protects the brakelights? Did TVR production not always follow Steve's bible?

On the S3 the brake light switch is near the top of the brake pedal.

I had a similar problem recently and it was due to the switch disintegrating heres a few pics of how it was and the new switch etc when fitted.

I had to lengthen the push rod but I just cut a bit off the old one , drilled the end and fitted it as a cap over the new one.

Mine fails every year, usually on the way to the MOT testing station!

thanks for the pics. Nice location.
As far as I can feel the switch is intact.
Did not dare to remove the wires/plugs yet, to check that Green/Orange wire for volts.
Guess I have to take the drivers seat off to be sure I can reassemble.

had the same on mine..the bracket is somewhat flexible...just bend it until you get the desired effect....a multimeter with a buzzer function is very useful for setting these up when you are lying on your back with your feet on the headrest.

Set the meter to buzz at 0 Ohms, connect across the wires, and bend the bracket back or forward until the meter buzzes with about 1/2 cm of pedal depression. I'm guessing that your bracket has got too close to the pedal.....
