shocks

when i bought my s1 2 months ago is was slow and not very good fun, so looked into the problem and found the throttle linkage was very stiff and only giving me half throttle, so sorted that and took it out for a spin put it in to second under hard power and the exhaust was catching the floor on evey gear change, put it down to shocks so got some new ones for the rear now the car sits to high even with ajusting them down. is it a case of getting new springs aswell if so where can i get them from at a good price or has anyone got some for sale

what shocks did you get and am I right in thinking you used original springs? I would've expected them to be too low with old springs not too high.

I put AVO's on my V8S with original springs - they were miles too long I had to get new springs.
It looked like a TVR 4x4.

Speak to Derek at Absolutely Shocks - I think my springs were in the region of £100 for a set of 4.

I can't remember exactly but think the original springs were 11 inch long and new ones are 9.5 inch I think.

they are 9" chris, what I am saying though is if all he has changed is shocks why would ride height go up unless they are way too long, ahh but thinking about it what if springs were designed for shock with a lower/longer spring platform therefore they are longer than overall spring platform for the new ones

I think you're bang on - the original shocks had a fixed seat for the long spring whatever length that was - the newer type with adjustable seats (I think thats most of them) need a shorter spring.
