For my money I would repeat the 2008 venue a the KKS and think about a few more "events" during the day...
The drive out I would repeat, but probably have smaller groups each with a leader who knew the route

It would be good to attract some traders who could do "workshops" or provide technical advice etc. (They might even get some trade from the Kit car lads ?)
Probably recommend stronger tables for the saturday night to cope with being danced on...
I think this years organisers did a great job and are on to a winner. So much so that I think an alternative event would struggle to better this one, lets think about just trying to make this years event even better next year...

Hi Guys
Looking forward to it next year.
The Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, May bank holiday, could be a possible venue for a future event, I think its quite a lot bigger than Newark
Its a lot bigger than Newark and is an excellent show.there appeared to be a lot more specilized traders there when I went.Looking forward to it next year.

I'm a new guy to this so I am a little cautious of putting forward a view as I have less experience than many of you, on the other hand I know you want to make the event attractive enough to bring in new blood.
I'm glad there is so much enthusiasm already for SCH 2009, seems to show that the guys who set this rolling started something worthwhile and the momentum is growing. It was a good idea to hold SCH in association with another event, there was plenty to see and do. I havent been to SCH before but I understand that the format was seen as a good move forward. It was a good event for us and I can see why there is enthusiasm for doing the same again.
BUT! I asked myself whether I would want to go to exactly the same venue again for more or less the same show, my feeling was that I would definitely go to SCH but I wasn't particular about going to the same show for several years.
I now see that a similar show but at Stoneleigh Park has been put forward. That might be a good move purely because it is a change and something new to go to see. Then I asked myself; what other events other than kit car shows could we link to? A quick look at a couple of motor magazine diaries showed lots of events in the summer that might offer us a good and interesting weekend. There are quite a few classic car shows, there is the Classic and Performance Car show at Tatton, some of the VSCC and even better HSCC events (Oulton Park for example) have camping.
I am not sure if the particular weekend has been fixed for a particular reason but if it was opened to even a few weeks either side there are quite a few events on the calendar.
I'd certainly favour trying another venue, purely for variety of interest.

This is an other alternative - AND - it would give the opportunity to do some 'untimed' runs up Prescott. Not cheap but I went this year and had great fun.

"Cheltenham Cleeve Vale Rotary Club invites classic car owners to an event to be held on the weekend of 9th and 10th May 2009. The event is open to all pre-1980 vehicles but exceptions may be made at the discretion of the organisers for particularly interesting vehicles.
Sunday 10th will be devoted to display and driving the famous hill, with passengers if you wish, in marshalled but un-timed runs. Un-timed runs eliminate the need for crash helmets and the full gamut of safety equipment etc. However vehicles must have valid road tax, MOT and insurance documentation. The Paddock entry fee is £46 per car [inclusive of 2 runs up the hill all passengers and a souvenir programme]. Entries are limited to 200. Additional runs if available will be £5 each.
As before we will also be having a static display in a designated area of the Orchard for classic, vintage and special vehicles.. For those who wish we will also be repeating the gentle cavalcades up the hill so that vehicles can be displayed in motion to the attending public. We feel this significantly enhances the presentation of the superb range of vehicles expected. The Orchard [static] entry fee is £18 per car which includes all passengers , a free programme and at least one cavalcade drive up the hill.
Block bookings by Clubs will be particularly welcome and we will endeavour to park such groups together on Sunday
On Saturday we are offering a 60 mile Cotswold tour starting and finishing at Prescott, where at the end there will be a cuppa and homemade cake."
