Went looking for a Chim, brought an V8s

hi there, i am a newbie to TVR's. went out yesterday to test drive a chim, end up putting a deposit on a V8S. My, what a gorgeous car and engine. Hope i have not let my heart rule.

The problem with Classicline is you can't leave the car on your drive even for 5 mins as they don't cover you unless in the garage whenever its at home - that assumes you are 'garaged'. I had a few arguments with them re that and their approach was silly to say the least - home for quarter of an hour - put it in the garage and then get it out again! Hagerty were cheaper for me and more sensible with the ability to leave the car on the drive as long as its garaged over night.

You also need to look at the requirement to "put the roof on and secure the car" when stopping at the newsagents etc. The catchalls are in the small print. Hagerty seem very much more obliging than the others I've spoken to. Haven't had to claim though, which is when the truth will out!!!

Hagerty have proved dramatically better value than anyone else for me. They've been friendly and very accomodating whenever I've spoken to them and the premium was about £600 less than my next best quote!! (No, that's not a typo!)

Re leaving the roof off - I did speak to Hagerty about that last year and the reply was along the lines of 'its a convertible so you can do that' - clearly the contents aren't covered in that case though but that is logical.

No-one has told you the best bit yet - if you go to a TVR meet and others have insurance with Hagerty you can drive their car and they can drive yours

I was aware of the ability to drive other Hagerty insured cars but is that comp cover or min legal only? (it may tell me somewhere but haven't looked!)
