Driving in the rain..

With this b.e.a.uuuuuutiful summer we're having, i keep getting caught in the bugger rain when i'm out in the Trev, i'm trying to use her just in the dry really.

How many of you drive yours in the wet??

Yeah, I drove her with teh roof down and it showed signs on raining so I pulled over n put the roof up and stayed dry till I got to the pub and then it poured down. Then went out for another drive and it had stopped raining so I took her off again with the roof down. Woooooo

I have driven car in the rain with roof up stuck in town and I didn't enjoy it.

yeah the rain is fine

the only damage is down to long term rust of the chassis.

If your chassis is in good condition then its fine. If its not, then youve got an issue rain or no rain

There is no doubt I prefer it hood down in the dry but, if I am going to use it this year then it is clearly going to get wet! 'She' stays outside, under a cover most of the time, so she is used to the wet and if I fancy using the S rather than the daily driver then I do, wet or dry. Just have to remember not to sit on the wet towel!!!! I used to be a dry weather motorcyclist as well until I had to ride it down from Scotland in the rain, now I just assume I am going to get wet from time to time and go prepared. If you worry about sliding your S in the wet, try a modern 'bike'! I discovered long ago that my skin doesn't leak and that a used car doesn't deteriorate any faster than one stuck in the garage, and is a whole lot more fun!

I drove mine home in heavy rain the day I bought it and ended up with a footwell full of water.

Much spraying with hosepipes and shining torches from the footwell in the dark and I thought I'd managed to plug the leaks but still get wet shins - nowhere near as bad though.

The real problem is the underlay that has been glued to the floorpan - it takes weeks to dry fully. I think I may pull it up and just pull the drain grommet out when it get wet. I has to be easier!!

I try to use the hood as little as possible (especially as the rear screen is still the 1990 original). I use a lightweight waterproof car top cover when parked. The worst I've had (years ago) is hailstones! They really get the interior wet.

Its all to do with the balance of nature.....

Lots of pollution (belting around in Tiv`s)causes global warming (so we`re told)= warmer climate = more moisture in the atmospere, which when hits cooler northern air, falls as rain, thereby generally keeping the TVR`s indoors and reducing pollution and ultimately leading to more sunshine, so out we go in our Tiv`s again etc etc.

Personally avoid going out in the rain, purley because it ain`t fun, and it`s a pain cleaning the car. The car itself has no problems, even in near monsoon conditions, other than a bit of water sometimes in the footwells.

I never used to drive mine in the rain until LeMans two years ago, it pelted down for 400 miles, it was so bad I couldn't see more than a foot infront of the car. At one point I had the passenger holding an empty pringles pot under the roof and bailing out every few seconds.

Not as bad as my mate who came in his Tiger and forgot to bring the roof, lets just say he was a little damp by the time we got there

Rain really hasn't bothered me (or my mate) since!!!

I was there!! What a crappy week weather wise! Did you see a big orange LDV that was a Gereral Lee replica(check 'my cars' in my profile for a pic!)we were in that bugger! Came in handy when we left as most cars needed to be towed out the fields!

I always try to avoid using her in the wet just for the sake of it, if it is raining then I will use my normal car,but if I am out and it rains then I am not too bothered, although saying that I've only been caught out once in a heavy shower and I have to say it didn't leak, perhaps it wasn't raining hard enough. What really annoys me is the cleaning you have to do after a shower, it is worse for me as I have painted my wheelarches white which seemed like a good idea at the time.
