IIRC polished rocker covers for both 2.8 and 2.9 can be purchased from:

they are not listed on their website, but were in the last catalogue I saw. Get their telephone number from the website and give them a ring

It is not possible to fit the 2.9 aluminium rocker covers even on a 2.9 when it is fitted in an S the alternator is in the way.
