Thinking of buying .....
Discussion
Am thinking of buying an S (V6)to help me through MLC. Cheaper than divorce and the kids will love "Daddys noisy car!". Never been in one before and was hoping someone round the Reigate / Redhill / Gatwick area would be prepared to take me out for a spin in theirs and talk me through the pleasure and pain of ownership.
Here's hoping

Yep, get down to VW, I was in the same position as you a couple of years ago, went along had a good look chatted with a few peeps listened to them( and the engine noise ! ) and that was it ! There was one for sale at the meet, my wife wanted to buy it there and then , subseqently bought a few months later, have not stopped grinning since !

See if you can get to Virginia Waters on 26th. Take the kids along....There will be lots of S's there as well as all other marques..
I can take you out if you like..

Is that the 26th of Oct? If so I can get down to Virginia Waters (I live in Bracknell) and it just so happens that I'm selling my S3.
May see you there

Thanks for all the advice guys. Will try and get along to VW for chin wag and the sounds of rolling thunder. Have already bought the "Bible" so have scared myself witless reading all that can go wrong with the damn things, but then "if you're not on the pitch you can never be a player" can you?
You might want to look at this thread, as you can see the 'S' guys are a very helpful bunch.

Don't be too put off by it.. as long as you know one end of a spanner from the other most of the niggly problems that may occur can be sorted out on the drive.. I
'd my S and would have another one tomorrow.. All the best with it.
Matt.
The Jules.
Your in the same boat as me!
As well as PH classifieds and Autotrader I can recommend joining the TVRCC or at least borrowing the Sprint magazine. Lots of S' for sale in there each month.
Also get hold of Heaths bible. The chassis chapter is worth a read. Helps to know where to look when viewing cars.
