Just been thinking what jobs to do on the S in the New Year and wonder if I should replace the current ATF with gearbox oil? I have done a search on here for details of best oil but can't find it - I do seem to remember it may be Castrol ... and that its about £12 per litre so can anyone tell me?
Also when I last changed the oil I used a suction device from a friends compressor; it worked fine but was v slow and also filled the garage with oil fumes so what is the best method using bits I can easily get hold of?
Oh for a ramp - wouldn't it make it all that much easier than grovelling on the floor in a cold garage ...

The only way you'll get it all out is with the box out and turning it over. Even syphoning with the body off and the top cover removed I couldn't get to the very last few drops. When I had mine rebuilt the guy who did the rebuild (and knows type 9s - he uses them in his hill climb cars) recommended any good quality semi or fully synthetic gearbox oil. He said it wasn't really important which make as long as the quality was good and the viscosity was 75W90. I used Titan Gearsyn Semi Synthetic and it seems to work well (and cost about £15 for a 2.5 litre bottle which is enough for the box twice over (2.5 pints required))
