unexpected 'bulb' under switch panel
Discussion
I've just removed the switch panel in order to fix a dodgy fan switch. Amongst the mass of cables is one with a metal socket and what looks like a small bulb (similar to that used for the cabin light). Anyone know what it is?
The best I can come up with is perhaps it is the bulb used to illuminate the petrol gauge, as that stopped working a few months back
Oh, it doesn't light up with the other instruments, but that might simply be that the bulb is blown.

Some of the controls are illuminated by fibre optics which are fed from that central bulb.
My fibreoptics are fed from a bulb inside a massive cylindrical holder, which I wouldn't have thought matched the discription above. If it is this then it comes from a 1980-85ish Range Rover.drivingfroggy said:
I have one under my switch panel. I just assumed it was inline to give the circuit some load. Don't know which circuit mind you.
Its a small bulb, and not the one driving the instrumentation illumination. I left it alone and had limited time to put the car back together.pies said:

One that springs to mind, could it be the cigarette lighter illumination come adrift
Hi Harry,hows the Cerb ?

I think harry is correct as its very easy to dislodge that bulb all the rest are firmly held in

. I'd liked to have kept the V8S as well and do miss it for time to time, but I think I'd push for a Tam now if I had another open top TVR tbh.
