Hi

Does anybody know where to get the air intake flexi hose betweeen air intake and AFM on a V8S?

I have spoken to ACT and they are not stocking it at the moment? frown

There seem to be loads of options via Google, but I am not sure which specification/material is suitable (I assume rubber/plastic?)confused, I currently have the fabric type tubing!!?

Any ideas where this can be purchased, and what I need to purchase would be appreciated?

Thanks

Larry

Hi mate,
I think you can use pretty much anything. My old man replaced his with silicon tube out the demon tweeks catalogue. As far as I know its generally better if you use a pipe with a smooth interior as it produces less turbulent flow into the phlenm, aiding combustion. Could be horsest, but would make sense, similar idea to smooth flow for the exhaust gas.

Larry I think the original looks like fabric but has a polythene like liner on the inside as it has to be airtight.
I've got a million internet links on my home PC so I'll have a look later.

Larry

I have some spare 60mm ID silicon hose (if that's the right ID size for you) - if you let me know what lengths you need & if I have enough spare I will post it to you.

Cheers

I don't think that will be big enough for the V8 intake.

Hi All

Thanks for the replies and (Jaye) for the offer of some silicon hose.thumbup

I am not completely sure about the look of silicon - having looked through some old SCH photo's (below) I quite like the look of the standard black plastic hose used on the later V8S's (better than my old fabric one) smile.

Cheers

Hi Colin

That looks very neat thumbup, what diameter hose(76mm?)/degree bend did you purchase?

I assume you used a Samco joiner too (Alloy? Aluminium Billet? or Carbon Fibre?) - did you bother with the Samco hose clips or did you just buy any old Stainless Steel Jubilee clips?

Cheers

Larry

P.S Can you cut silicon hoses? Or do you need to buy exactly the right length straight hose?

They cut very easily with a sharp knife. To get a neat straight cut the best technique is to put a hose clip on lightly pinched up and use that as a guide.

The elbow is "135 Degree Silicone Elbow" you can buy proper connectors as well but i went for just a piece of 76mm stainless tube and two jubilee clips as this gave it the smoothest internal surface,i did my mod to increase power not for cosmetics smile

You dont actually nee to buy any stainless tube as you could just cut 3" of the end of the existing tube and use that to join the straigt to the elbow smile
