Evening everyone,
Well my time overseas is coming to an end and I will return home in Apr 09 ready for a season of top down motoring. I was at home for a few days recently and thought I would flash up the 'S' as it had not been used for 8 months and was sitting in the garage. It ran like a dream but I have a cooling issue. The coolant, although not boiling, is making a 'bubbling sound, when the engine is switched off. The seals on the expansion tank are new and not perished and I can not see any signs of a leak. The radiator fan is only drawing 4V but I did not get the water hot enough for it to kick in so I am discounting that as an issue (will deal with that one nearer the time as I think a slight bit of re-wiring should solve it). Could it be the water pump not working? The second issue is I want to give the car a health check, sandblast (or equivalent) the chassis to get the rust and grime off and then seal. Possibly fit new coils and dampers also as we are bottoming out a little also. She is a 1990 S2 in BRG with approx 65k on the clock and bundles of history if it helps. She is never going to win any awards but I just want a piece of low priced big grin fun and that it produces (when running at 100%!). I live in Tidwoth, near Andover in Wiltshire and would welcome any assistance in recommending somewhere to take the car.
Enjoy the cold spell!
