Fuse, relay or possibly the switch, clutching at straws a bit here ![]()
Not a bad selection of straws
there's not a lot left, bar the wires themselves, out of that lot
Fuse or relay if the gods are smiling
, if not then the wires at the back of the fuse/relay board

mine done this too but was the switch itself. would check the fuse and relays first, if it is the switch try the scrappy for an early sierra. take the old one with you as there were a few different types. i was quoted nearly £100
for a new switch from a ford dealer. think i paid a fiver to the scrap man.
cheers

Thanks for your help everyone, i had a look in my mess of a fuse box/relay area and cant find anything wrong there
One thing i did manage to do is break this little resistor thingy that sits next to another relay (the smaller ones)
I dont know if thats whats supposed to be in there but the car wont start now
I can repair it but i would rather have what is supposed to be in there......again, anyone got any ideas
Mart.......depressed at the moment

The resistor should have coloured bands on it to show what resistance it is. If you read those off we can work out the resistance. Alternatively, just ring up Maplins or equivalent and ask for a resistor with those colours. If you can't make out the markings, your next best option is to measure the resistance.
On the lights problem, check the connectors between the main loom and the bonnet, down by the hinge. These are vulnerable to corrosion and broken wires.

I had the same problem Mart after I'd done an S1 front end re-furb on my previous car (I like re-building S's!) It did turn out to be the switch coincidently, although it was working fine before I'd taken the whole front end apart. Get yourself down to the breakers with the whole arm/switch unit and find a direct replacement. I remember doing this and paid a fiver - early sierra I think - just compare. Good luck.

These are of a V8 mind
HTH
Right now I'm confused colin, why do you have two resistors in the fuse panel
. I have one, a 510ohm to let the ECU know its a manual gearbox and not an auto. I also have one in the loom (in a nice plastic cover and proper connector to it) that lets it know whether its a cat or pre cat car but not two in the FP
, enlighten someone..................... Harry
btw we are talking V8S here not V6 incase there's further confusion
. Been for a blat yet Colin, got any figures for the AFM

Heres dedication for you........should be in the pub, but no.just spent 4 hours doing the car
1.Got it started, i fixed the relay that i broke
2.Stopped the exhaust rattle
3.Stopped what i thought was a terminally noisey fuel pump werring (spelling
)....all i had to do was move it away from the body that it was touching
4.New fuel filter fitted....and it dont leak
All i've got to do tomorrow is fix the lights
Might post some piccys of the car....you lot have been a great help, you might as well see what all the efforts going into
Better go any pacify the misses now....bit pi$$ed that ive spent the last few weeks under/in the car
