Is it the same radiator for the 2.8, 2.9 and V8 cars?

Is it the same on 2.9 to 2.9, V8 to V8 is what you should be asking...! hehe

Different cars have different Rad's. More or standard cooling.

Norman if you can post some pics of that rad you have I can post some of the V8 rad to see the differences.

Looks like mine (V8s) from the outside spout positions, mountings and even the bleed nipple, but will the capacity be different if its for the V6 scratchchin

Its not the same as the S3. There's a pair of top-hat sections with captive nuts on the top, roughly where those pins are located. Also the pins are on the bottom on the S3.

Sounds the same as what I have.
Edited - it's not the same is it - I have the top hat bits. Pins at the bottom.

71x42cm for sure

Depth here - the actual radiator core is a touch narrower than that top panel.

So this creates more confusion than ever!
Maybe you have a V8S rad, I have a V6 rad, or the bigger V8S radiator is a myth!

if it is any help in Jan 2006 I had my V8s radiator replaced with what was described as a reconditioned S3 radiator. Seems to be going well since.

Pins at the bottom but you cant see them. How do the 'top hat' things work?

It just supports a bolt insert - you can see the bolt on the top of my rad - that goes through the radiator carrier onto the top of the rad. I think.

Top-hats exactly as Chris said and shown in his photo, without them rad won't fit the S3 nor the V8S. Pins at the bottom drop into grommeted holes in the chassis.

Found this - the big ally pipe is the air intake on the V8S but it bolts to the top of the rad on the top hat.

And here you can see the bottom grommet on the right.
Whose filthy chassis is that!
