I want to get a geometry check done because I have just fitted new suspension. Has anyone else had this done ? If so how much and where did you get it done ? I live in the Bournemouth area in Dorset so I need somewhere farely local.
It is called a geometry check isn't it. It's basically reseting the car to handle the new suspension. I has a black hole in mu knowledge about what this is all about.

Just to say that when I replaced all mine the ride height dropped about 10mm during the first week and I had to reset everything to get it back again. Fortunately I hadnt taken it for full geometry check immediately....TVRMadPaul said:

Talk to Richard at dulfords i have just had a geo setup after my body off restoration they are near cullompton junction 28 M5 although it may be a bit far from you. http://www.dulfordautocouk.moonfruit.com/#It is called a geometry check isn't it. Paul,
I had mine booked in at Dulford for the very same job but had to cancel. I then tried Mike Stokes in B'mth and when they asked if I had the spanner for the AVO's and never phoned me back when I said "no", I thought "If a job's worth doing......"
A trip to Devon for peace of mind. Just imagine the journey home on a clear day.

You need to do clicks from hard, as fully shut is the only known exact position. If you go from hard to soft and the two shocks are matched then you can count from soft, but check full range is the same on the paired shock first or you could end up with an unmatched setting on the axle. My front ones aren't matched.
My Gaz standard as recommended by Derek at absolutely was 14-16 from soft if your shocks are of the 42-44 click valve setting so mine are at 14 one side and 15 the other from soft (i.e. 28 from fully hard both sides) and the rear ones are at 7 (Derek recommended 6-8) from soft as they are the new valving i.e. 22 across the full range so both are 15 from fully hard.
My ride height is 155 between front wheels at the centre chassis members and the rear of the outriggers are 12mm higher than the front. This is slightly lower than a lot of people seem to recommend at the front but it seems to work.

Interesting points thanks. I was doing everything from the softest settings didn't realise that I may have unmatched pairs. I'll take a look at this the next time I'm under the car. To be honest I haven't a clue what I'm doing
so I've asked Derek at Abs Shokcs for a quote on a full setup I think this will be the only way I'll ever get it sorted.
Thanks for the info.
Just out of interest how do you find the GAZ Nickels I find that they still seem to be too soft admittedly my setup is probably way off but the springs just don't seem to be stiff enough. Maybe after the setup this will not be the case.

I have the standard springs Derek recommended and I find them ok although others have said they prefer stiffer ones, however the shock absorbers are fully adjustal and if you set them to roughly 1/3 of the range from the soft position (bearing in mind previous comment) then gradually increase them by one click at a time (I do each end seperately and test drive in between) you'll find something you like eventually.
Admittedly I do need to get a geometry set up done now but the weather put me off sorting it this weekend.
