Having found the battery completely flat after a 6 weeks of idleness I'm thinking of investing in a trickle/battery charger. Not sure if I should just get a normal charger or if a trickle charger is better; does anyone have any recommendations?

I too use a CTEK, had one now for about 6 months, not used my car for about 8 weeks now but I just leave the unit permanently connected and it always starts no problem at all. It is much better for your battery to be constantly monitored and charged when required rather than charging it only when it is flat.
cheers.....Tony..

DON'T get the Halfrauds one! The wiring on mine overheated and caught fire in the engine bay.

Luckily I was stood right by it at the time and no damage was done.

Everything I've bought from that store has been defective in some way, much like the neuron-defficient chavs that seem to work there.

My S2 has been hooked up to an Airflow Battery Conditioner for 10+ years.
I have an in-line plug (between the battery and the unit) mounted on top of the front wheel arch section, so it can be easily plugged in.
It monitors the charge and adds more when required, plus it seems to make the battery last longer.

Just ordered an Optimate v4 as it seems to do everything.

My neighbour lent me his trickler last night and it appeared to be fully charged this morning. Will give it a go tonight and get out for a spin if it stays dry.

Thanks for all the advice.
