Hi to all on this forum.
I have just purchased my first TVR, it's a 1989 S2 that needs a small amount of tlc. The first job I decided to tackle was adjusting the doors as they are both catching the sills, no probs removing the door trim but the two 17mm pivot bolts on both doors felt very tight to me so my first question is how much force can you put onto the spanner / socket wrench? (I know this is like asking how long is a piece of string) but my main concern is damaging the threaded boss that's moulded into the fibreglass under and above the door that these bolts screw into if I apply to much force could I do some damage?, I did try to spray some penetrating lubricant but access is limited.

Once these bolts are free how do you actually adjust the doors in a vertical direction, I can see that once the smaller bolts either side of the pivot bolt are loosened that you will have lateral movement of the door but not vertical, I found a post on this forum showing 3 photographs of the bolts being removed in various stages but no reference as how to adjust the height of the door.
Thank's for any advice on this matter, I'm sure there will be other questions!

If you check in the frequently asked questions, you'll find a whole thread on this.

Soak the bolts in penetrating oil really well, if you free the captive nut you'll be cutting and re-fibreglassing

Thanks Mark but as I said in my post I have already checked the forum including the FAQ but it's not clear how you achieve vertical adjustment only lateral, both my doors need lifting to clear the sills.

I think the drop is due to wear in the metal insert in the door - I think but am not entirely sure that you can unbolt it and turn it round so the unworn side is against the pivot.
