Saw the bad news on the news tonight - killjoys (sorry road safety campaigners) want a 40mph speed limit for the whole of the Isle of Wight The by green brigade are at it again - ruining any fun involving the combustion engine.

Bet the will be loving this one (sorry unfare the safety camera income generation partnership rather than plod).

They've been wanting that for years though and it hasn't happened yet. Thus far they've been sneakily doing it by putting 40 signs 100 yards before every 30 coming from an nsl, then slowly creeping the 40s further out. I suspect everyone will continue the current practice of ignoring them. Recent deaths have been due to driving into trees and telegraph poles, which are just as solid at 40 as they are at 100
