Hi Guys

Thanks for the kind replies on my introduction post.. Now a really dumb question..

How do I open the boot.. i know its got a solenoid but I cant find the switch on my S3 (only had it a week.. Doh..) where did TVR usually hide the little blighter..?

Also I don't have a handbook, is a PDF available or do I just need to check breakers and eBay and hope one turns up..?

Many Thanks

Oh.. I took the car you York and back today my longest run to date (50 miles) didn't miss a beat.. I think she must have been stood a while as the engine seems to be loosening up and getter better each time I go out.. or perhaps I am just getting used to the funky ride.. which also seems to get better at speed.

Cheers

Damian

Should be just to the right of the steering column on the underside of the dash. If you also have a knob there it's more than likely the dimmer for the panel lights.

My, you two were up late. No kids? Yep the button for the boot is just to the right of the steering column under the dash, great place to put it. As for the the car manual....hahahahahahahahahahaha....... Sorry what I meant to say was that while you did get one with the car it more of a four page booklet that a three year old with a home printing machine could knock up and doesnt provide much useful information. Alternatively get hold of Steve Heaths book on the S series AKA 'The Bible', sorry no crucifixtions in it. I think you can get it from the TVR club office, however I am sure someone will be along in a minute with a definate answer to that.

It's available to buy online on the TVRCC website under "Regalia".

My boot button (S3C) isn't on or under the dash - it's on the lower cowl of the steering column.

Hmmm, when I picked up my S2 I went for the drive home with the roof off (100miles). The M40 became statinary dur to a cloud burst on a fantastic day frown

I had no idea how to open the boot to get the roof out, I had an MOT examiner with me and we struggled a bit smile

Anyhow, that one had a red lever (Ford?) under the steering column which I thought adjusted the column, but no it opened the boot.

The V8S has a samll button low down, to the right of the column.

Good luck.

I've got a button on the steering cowl next to the ignition switch and immobiliser.

Hi Dudes thanks for the info.. I have located the button.. not on the steering cowl but on the underside of the dash.. Thanks wink

Not that is works Doh.. I can hear the solenoid but no popping open.. add it to the list..

Also re the kids.. yea I have some 3 infact a girl and twin boys..

Re the manual.. I do have the 2 wiring diagrams that I was frankly impressed to find, perhaps the rest is in the boot lol.. Also I will be ordering a Bible later today. There was one on eBay a couple of weeks ago but went for almost new price.

If the boot catch is adjusted up tight you might find pressing it a number of times quickly will make it open (it may help if the engine is running for a bit more voltage).

If not get someone to press down on the boot lid on the drivers side while you press the button and it should open.

Failing that PM me for some additional info that is not appropriate to be posted on the forum.

I've got the 36 page one and its about as useful as a 4 page one - although handy for things like hood stowage etc. I woudl agree that for any sort of home maintenance - the Steve Heath book is the one to go for.

I find the Haynes Sierra V6 manual more useful than the so called "bible" for maintaining the S - especially if you have a V6 based S. It is also cheaper...

Would if I could, lets just say I'm not too proficient with computers ( photocopy ?)
As for content, lets remember this is a Handbook NOT a workshop manual all any h'book does is basically explain controls and tell you how to change a tyre !

Back to the plot - Damian did you get the boot open?

Also worth checking the earth connections to give the solenoid a bit more oomph.

Hey Guys

Not had chance to try the boot again as the car is still in the garage having some chassis surgery.. frown

Probably not getting her back next week.. but will be visiting so will post some photo's as the work progresses.

Oh then on to the boot etc... I am basically happy to do electrics, mechanics and bodywork but didn't have skills, time, equipment to tackle the chassis.

Cheers
