Last night she died on me. I was going along nicely with the heater and lights on, when the battery light came on and it all went quiet. My first thought was the yellow connector. The AA man bypassed the black wire, which was burned out, but this didn't cure it. It has all the usual symptoms, no ignition, lights, wipers. All the gauges went dead, but the engine turns over. Is it possible the red wire in the yellow connector has burned across iside the connector? I've read all the previous threads and it all points to the yellow connector and fuse box. Has anyone got any new insight into this?cry

Not sure which black wire you are referring to as burned out but I'd look for damage in that area. The symptoms suggest you've lost the switched ignition feed, so if you can't see where the damage is then start tracing the ignition switched feed starting at the switch, through the infamous dodgy connector, through the immobiliser (if fitted) to the coil.

Cheers for that. The black wire is the one going away from the black side of the dodgy connector block, where 3 whites become this black into the main loom. As opposed to the red wires. Just waiting for it to stop raining now. No garage you see.
