Aren't the trailing arms different for the disk braked models?

Dont think so but not sure. There are three types listed in Parts Book, for the 2.8 S1, for the 2.9 S2 on and the adjustable type for V8s and later 2.9 (S3 possibly)

The trailing arms have a slightly wider track on the V8S / S4 but I don't think this will affect converting to discs - I don't know if the driveshaft is different or not though.

Why..?

I'm sure there was a thread a while ago.. Discussing the necessity etc.. When a high percentage of the Braking is done at the front end.

From what I recall, outcome was:

Balancing the braking - Yes
Sorting bigger discs / pads on the front - Yes.
Uprating Brake lines all over - Yes

Its not a heavy car.
