Last word on throttle cables

Got the cable for an S3 (F6720349) and sure enough it ain't going to fit my car.

So, if anybody would like a throttle cable which I believe fits an S3 then let me know - happy to post it to you for that unfortunate day when your current one goes PING.

How have you managed that ?

All 2.9 engines have the same cable, if you buy them from Uncle Henry (Ford) they can tell which one it is from the colored stripes, they don't even need the part number.

Some S's have hed the cable modified wher by the end of the cable has had a hole drilled into it so that it attached via a screw mechanisim giving shorter quicker throttle response, or as I call it Summer mode.

Yeah but Ren's got a very tasty V8S so a ford cable is not a lot of use.

This is a Ford Cable for a Ford 2.8/9 Cologne engine (i.e. S1/2/3/4). A Rover (landrover) cable is needed for a Rover engine (V8S/Chim/Griff/Cerb)..

Alright alright.... give the guy a break! He was obviously stressed out at the time. And besides, I wouldn't have put it past TVR to use a Ford cable on a Rover engine knowing the hotch-potch internals on the early Tivs.

I wasn't really laughing at Ren, I've bought the wrong things in the past, you should have seen me with the standard Ford oil filter for the S, wondering how the hell it would fit the car..

As long as you didn't cut a hole in the GRP to get it to fit.
