fitting exhaust
Discussion
my exhaust was blowing at the joints, all four of them, i did'nt fit it right a few years back, when i fitted new downpipes.
any tips for a good seal, so it WONT leak when i fit it again.
plus, BIG plus, i'm s
t scared of damaging the manifold, when i put pressure on it, when i push the main box onto the downpipes,i think it's made of tin foil
done usual search, just want more ideas,
many thanks,
loverly day, hope you all made the most of it.

Having problems with mine too, seems ok where down pipes join manifolds but deffinately blowing where main "silencer" joins downpipes. One problen with stainless is it doesn't rust/corrode like mild steel and thereby seal itself wth time, you could try any of the various exhaust pastes available but these tend to dry very hard and brittle, one slight grounding ( has been known to happen, "oops THAT speed hump" )and all falls out.
So, my plan is to try some very high temperature silicone sealant we just happen to have "spare" at work, its rated to 300c took temp reading other day after a brisk run and was around 190c so should work ?
Other part of plan is to use some wide clamps rather than the usual U bolt type clamps, think there's a link somewhere on usefull links or you could google "mikalor" this is a brand we happen to use at work !

This company do the clamps had some of the posh stainless version of the Mikalors found them ok on my Westfield, must get round to putting some on the S one day.
Just ordered a pair of mikalor clamps. Should gain at least 10mm (3/8") ground clearance instead of the old U bolts.
Ordered the 47-51 size clamps and there to small need the next size up
