Hi all not posted for a while mostly because my P&J has had a partial body lift to replace the dreaded outriggers.
Anyhow the work has been done and I have my car back but have noticed that the gear knob feels loose and the gaitor is not attached to the bottom of the gear knob.
Firstly how is the gear knob attached to the stick (it's the wooden type)?
and the gaitor is looking a little worse for wear so I would like to replace it. How easy is it and what are the steps ?
Many thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris
My Knob (ohh err missus) is held in place by grub screws built into the knob itself onto a plain ended stick with a nylon bush.
The Outer Gaiter (the leather one) is easily made using the old one as a template, (theres a picture on myphotoalbum of my effort) the inner one is a rubber affair with a flange which screws to the transmission tunnel. Mine was FUBAR'd so I replaced it with a Discovery gaiter which works quite nicely... dont be tempted to do away with the rubber Gaiter as the leather one will just balloon up at speed and become detatched and allow all the road muck etc to blow straight into the cabin.

K wink

The rubber gaiter is ford part no 6112048. I bought one from the local ford dealer quite cheaply.
See ebay item 250399188939 for a new leather gaiter.

Cheers

Now Tim you know I would not just go out and buy something like you wealthy business magnates... I always have a ratch around the farmyard first to see if a piece of dead goat and a broken spring will fix whatever the current problem is first...

Chris, you are probably best to follow Tims advice wink

Hi, my S3 came with a wooden knob, which I think was factory fitted judging my condition and original purchase invoice,it screwed onto the gear stick

Not sure Chesterfield is ready for two S's it's a very quiet town now you've left rolleyes

Did u manage to get a bible ? I think they are best obtained from the TVR club site although they do occasionally appear on ebay.

S3Max sounds too cool for an old Scoobie man biggrin how about S3pipeandslippers biggrin
