Hi All

has anyone replaced the electric radiator cooling fan on their S3 or S4?

The cowl around my fan is cracked and I thought I would replace the fan, before it falls off! Has anyone fitted a new Kenlowe fan or other make, present Fan is 12 inch dia, or for extra cooling it appears i could fit two 10 inch diam Fans side by side rather than one 12 inch dia.

Micheal, I am interested in this. The way I see it, the cowling restricts the airflow, to effectively the area of the hole for the fan. If the cowling were removed completely, and two dia 10" fans fitted as you have mentioned, then yes, the fans would probably not draw as efficiently without the cowling, but the radiator would generally be more efficient most of the time, and perhaps not require the fans so often? I noticed a Chimera the other day had the radiator truly upright to the airflow, and twin fans (no cowling), but I did not think to check the diameter. I guess they will be twin fans from something common....Sierra or similar. The radiator looked pretty similar.
Whilst the Rover V8 is a lazy lump, due to its aluminium contruction, it will transmit heat from the heads to the coolant very quickly, and therefore need more efficient cooling.

Hi Michael,

I went for a Kenlowe with variable temp control and booster switch. The link is below. I left the original fan on the fron of the radiator and fitted the new to the back. Absolutely no problems at all. I'd recommend it.

I'm using a single 16" fan on the back of the rad, because the single big fan is much more efficient than two small ones. I kept the original fan in front until recently, but it's been removed to make space for a cooler now.
