Ratchet Spanners
Discussion
Not exactly ratchet spanners but I have some Snap-on openend spanners where one side of the jaw looks more like a little hook, this allows you to turn the nut then you can kind of slip back round to the next flat on nut with out removing the spanner. Turning the spanner over allows tightening/ loosening.
Not too clever with computers but will try to put photo on tomorrow !

Isnt an open ended ratchet spanner what you get told to get from the stores when you are an apprentice? Also a sky hook, bucket of sparks and the classic "Long Stand" - where the storeman tells you to wait while he gets it for you, 20 mins later you have had the long stand!
Don't forget the glass hammer and the metric adjustable spanner !And yes, that picture in Sprint is the type of spanner I was trying to describe

There is a picture of a Facom one in this months sprint, in the article about removing exhaust manifolds. Something else to invest in!

I was looking at a set of these yesterday (although they were made by Stanley and not Facom). The packet has one of them connected to a plastic nut so as to try it. It did seem to be a good idea.Hang on - here's the original pic from the sprint article

Have those Stanley ones not got the ratchet on the ring end, with a standard open end? Jees how sad am I...tvrgit said:

I have a set of these Alden wrenches I don't use them that often but they are a life saver in certain circumstances.

I like them!!!
Not sure I like the preamble about tool freaks though... no, I think I have quite enough spanners now...
I was just trying to find the article in this month's Sprint, without success, then I twigged this thread is from 2009!
It was so long ago, I was still working!
I have been the proud owner & user of a couple of Snap-on ratchet open-enders, & found them to be invaluable & time-saving assets.
Surprisingly, I have used them more on cars than on aircraft.
They are a useful ally to have in your toolbox/chest/display cabinet.
But I only found out today that there is a new innovation on the market.....
Ratchet banana spanners.
How cool is that?
I shall call them by names beginning with 'B' ........

but more than happy to be shown otherwise.
- I should have just asked if anyone remembers the picture someone posted of an adapted open ended spanner.......
