Starting to annoy me, so it's time to fix it. Any hints/tip about removing the door card?

Mine tend to rattle worse when the tops on. Usually when fully up. Tend to leave them down just a little which helps.

What Wiz said. My door cards are held in place with an elaborate (possibly home-made) "system" of Rawlplugs and a screw. Comes off in seconds. The correct set-up, I think, has two obsured bolts which are accessed by removing the speaker. I tightened my window mechs when I did the door hinges and they no longer rattle. The door latch cable now does that where I disturbed it. Really, really annoying.

Being of more help - take the speaker out and reach up inside around where the handle top fits the door. There are two thin threaded screws m3? One holds the handle to the card the other through the door skin. Think its an 8mm spanner you need although mine came off by hand. Then remove the screw on the face of the card near the latch. The card then needs careful prying off the door skin, held by those little plastic clips that normally break. Then lift the card up and away, unhooking the handle wire at the same time.
Found that mine were a pig to get lined up with the door top to get back on as well.

A good tip is to replace the nut with a wing nut to make it easier the next time.

Hi Ed, mine's got keep-fit windows. Just prise out the centre of the window winder, take out the speaker and the rest should follow if you locate the hidden bolts.

Good call Alan thumbup I'll do that next time... I wound an elastic ban around a socket (7mm IIRC ?) so I could grip it tighter... never thought of a wing nut... bloody stud was about 50mm long as well - must cut that down too rolleyes

K wink

that's great - many thanks. Slowly getting this car to the way I want it (no offence Ray!)

edited to say.. Ray did all the thankless, hard work. I'm getting going with the more glamorous easy stuff.
