Hello Chaps..

I got a stone chip right in my line of view and the Autoglass chip repair man said he wouldn't repair it because of its position.
Has anyone got any info on this windscreen.. ie what car did it come from and where can I get a replacement??

Thanks in advance chaps...

Paul.

Do an advanced search of the S forum for windscreen and you'll find several threads on the subject.

Hi Paul,

Me being lazy, can you remind me what the part number is and whether you've had any luck finding someone to supply it?

1100 WCL is an old number, try 9255 AGN( the 3 letters change depending if clear, green top tint etc) Autoglass quoted me something stupid like £800 to supply/fit
Try www.mobilewindscreens.co.uk far more friendly and helpful and under £200 !

Personally the aim is to see if Hagerty will let me select the company to do the repair. If so, I'll ask Glassman (local PHer) to fit it. I've mentioned it before and I seem to remember he was having trouble locating the part number and supplier.

Hello Chaps...Autoglass at Great Bridge.. Tipton are handling my replacement.

They have sourced me a screen but it's green with a blue upper sun band. My car being cardinal Red makes me inclined to stay with what Ive got.. a clear glass screen. They said they'd continue the search. I quoted them the part no. 9255 ACL obtained from a thread on here. They said it wouldn't cost more than £400.

I had a conversation with Roy at Autoglass who had done a Cerbera before and he said it took 5 hours. I said an S3 is not without its difficulties.. and that I didn't want the surround scratched.. he said don't worry mate we'll manage it.. but I had to take it there.. they wouldn't do it on my drrive.

I'm hoping Hagerty will be picking up the tab.. less excess.

I'll keep you posted..

Paul.

Autoglass have been unable to source a clear screen but they have said they could get one made.
Gotta wait a few weeks though.. they said it would cost about 75 quid plus fitting etc..
ok I says...go for it.. so I'm waitin...

confused

I've had my windscreen changed on a number of occasions rolleyes, and never had any issue getting the replacement with a clear glass screen in much more than a week. I've always had to leave the vehicle with them for a day for it to be fitted.

Always been done by RAC windscreens thumbup, covered by insurance except the £60 excess.

I thought supply of the glass wasn't really an issue ?

Should I invest in one at £75 scratchchin if it is £75 - seems awfully cheap good value for a one-off made to order.

Hi,

I need to replace the windscreen on my recently acquired S3. The current windscreen (not original screen according to the paperwork that came with the car) seems to be bonded in with a flexible black sealant around the edge to seal the gap. Is this a correct fitment or should it have a traditional black rubber seal all around the edge? I would welcome input from anyone who has previously researched this.

Many Thanks

Hello had my windscreen replaced at home via the insurance company.I don't think they are in short supply as I believe they fit the Griff as well.It took two fitters a couple of hours as they have to cheese wire the screen out. Make sure they are really careful with the dashboard and the interior. They are afaik all bonded in,this can look messy to, if not done correctly.
