I'm umming an arring as to whether to take my S3 to Le Mans this year. What's the situation with headlight converters? (I hasten to add I've never used them on any car before, so please be patient!)

Hey Chris ... have the lights not got to be bright enough to dazzle oncoming cars before converters are necessary ? hehe

I took my S to Le Mans last year and duly bought some of those stick on deflector efforts which stayed on for about 30 seconds before falling off !!! some of the guys in our convoy got stopped by the plod and they didn't even check for deflectors and none of them had them on either.

I was thinking that! biggrin

My boss is going over in his vintage Bentley and the lights are possibly even worse. In thirty years he's never bothered with converters. Actually, to be honest, I used to drive UK cars over to Europe quite regularly with Ford and I don't remember ever having them fitted.

I gather some (or all?) of them just stick on though, so it's probably worth at least sticking some in the boot for when the gendarmes ask.

If I do take the TVR I'll have to fit 4 boxes of magazines, a collapsable trolley and a push up poster kit (about the size of a rifle case) in there as well as my own luggage! Could be interesting...

I've got some of the stick on variety that have been lurking in my glovebox for many years.
My S2 has been all over France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Germany, etc., but I've never used them.

Buy some and keep them handy (just in case) or carry a roll of black electrical tape.
