Bonnet fixing Grrrr..
Discussion
Had no trouble with it before asking the garage just to adjust it a little, close up the gap on the horizontal front to back. Picked it up no problem and seemed better.
Next day lifted bonnet to check a couple of things and it wouldn't shut, the catch wasn't holding. So got the big spanner out and adjusted it a bit till it held.
Today all set to go out for a good long run and meeting up with some guys from the north east.
Go for petrol first - the bonnet pops up
Went back home and tried adjusting it again, seemed ok.
Set off later then after about 25 miles hit a bump and up the bonnet pops again.
So fitted a system of tie wraps to hold it just in case i need to stop in a hurry.
Spoiled an otherwise fantastic day.

LOL this happened to me allot during last summer. You just need to get it set up right. Does it come up over bumps? Or whenever it feels like it? If it's the latter then something is definatly out on the bonnet hinges.
My bonnet went mad and went popping up all the time on the way to somewhere for no reason. I thought it was odd...but found out the bolt had come free from the bonnet and was hanging on nothing! Eeeeek.
Back in April this year I posted about the same problem, there seems to be no excesive play in the front hinges and both bonnet pins have been adjusted to just about every position, the pull release returns properly so my next step will be to purchase a couple of new bonnet pins from TVR parts.
Whilst out for a drive yesterday on our crappy roads my bonnet popped up twice and always on the offside.

on a similar note, my bonnet is reluctant to open on the off-side. Once the realese catch has been pulled, the bonnet still needs a hefty tug to release - I suspect it is just a sticky catch (as I have not (consciously!) adjusted the bonet, and it used to open with no trouble. I have been reluctant to take the cathch apart to clean it up for fear of never getting it properly lined up again! Any suggestions?

Just to add to the discussion my bonnet always used to open when released and never on its own ('cept once in the Scottish borders when I hit an open cast mine of a pothole). However I have recently fitted an XJS strut and it now needs a good tug to release the offside... there is some play in the offside hinge and the strut must be taking up the slack and preventing it from releasing. I will need to sort the hinge out some time but not soon...

Think its ok now. Adjusted the front hinge back a few mm and took the pin off and dismantled/cleaned it up. A couple of goes with the masking tape helping mark out the strike location and sorted.
Went out for a spin on some local bumpy roads and it held ok. One thing i noticed was a little play in the bolt to bonnet hinge at the front, which won't help matters.
