Starting from cold is never a problem, but when trying to start from warm there is just a "click". Putting the it into 1st gear, and releasing the handbrake so it rocks until the gear stops it (assuming on a hill, otherwise giving a gentle push) then starts without any hesitation.

Any thoughts on the cause, and if this is a sign of something that will only get worse, or is it just a "minor irritation" to live with.

Thanks

Craig

Sounds like heat from the exhaust is causing a problem with your starter motor... you could try lagging the starter motor but it sounds like the damage is done. new starter motor ?

K frown

ETA I hope I'm wrong about needing a new starter motor and you can release what I believe to be a sticking solenoid then protect it from further problems but a heat shield... wink

Makes sense about a sticking solenoid due to the temperature otherwise it would do it when cold, wouldn't it?

Considering my starter motor just failed and made the exact 'click' you describe and I've had to push it down the road to get it started in gear, I feel your pain!!
