Throttle "hang" sorted
Discussion
I'm on a mission to sort out all of my running problems, the only one left being the throttle hang that the car developed a few weeks ago.
Suspecting the throttle butterflies were sticking, I had previously given it a good dose of carb cleaner into the holes with the throttles still on the car.
Today I decided to take them off and give them a good clean out (and also tidy up the outside a bit where someone had caked them in a grease akin to tar).
Once I'd got them removed, it was clear that there was still a tiny amount of caked on deposits near where the butterflies sit fully closed....like a fine ring right round the body.It didn't look enough to cause any problem.
I gave the lot a good scrub with a toothbrush, but that still didn't shift it, so I used some very fine wet or dry, used damp to clean it back to shiney aluminium again.
The problem was still there when I refitted them, but I had read somewhere about disconnecting the batery for 20 mins to let the ECU reset. I did this, and guess what...no more throttle hang, car revs up beautifully, and drives and idles better than ever. An hour very well spent!!!!
Hope that helps anyone who is encountering the same problem
Cheers
