New exhaust needed any suggestions

I need to replace the exhaust on my V8S soon and wondered if any of you had any suggestions as to which exhaust to buy?? I hear talk of Sports exhausts what are they like? Do they alter just sound or performance too??

I have heard that a stainless steel exhaust makes the car sound different, a bit tinny, is this true?

Also where is best place to buy from?

Blue Flame made the pipe for my car though I gather it was so much hassle that they seemed reluctant to make others. RT Racing in Sheffield sell a 'standard' sports exhaust, speak to Joolz from Joospeed if you want something a little more special, (no baffles so its nice and loud).

I think its fair to say an exhaust will not improve performance if you are going to replace it from the down pipes back to the tail pipes. Which is what I would understand to be the 'norm' if you are changing the 'exhaust'.
If however you have the manifolds and 'Y' piece (secondaries) changed for a slighly better design there is scope for some improvement .
I think the tinny noise you can get from some stainless systems is more of a function of the thickness of the material IMHO. The JP systems sold directly or unbelieveably more cheaper by Tim at ACT, go figure, are as good a quality replacement system as you'll get, again IMHO.
Mine has a stainless JP system from the 'Y' piece back and currently has a set of 'developement' JP manifolds and 'Y' piece in mild steel. I have no complaints about the noise or peformance . The blended 'Y' piece really does give it a much richer sound IMHO.

I would seccond HarryW and go with a JP one from ACT. I plan to get one for my V6 when the funds allow.

Just ordered a new JP SS exhaust and the new 'Y' Piece from ACT, nice guy, cant wait to get them fitted now!
