Hi all, took the tiv (2.9) out for a blast last night and everything was fine. Stopped at the shops after about 10 miles (halfords of all places, to buy screen wash). Car started fine but after 2-3 minutes of 30mph roads, the engine started to splutter and cough. Dipped the clutch and it seemed to rev up fine but release clutch to splutter again. Hardly any power at all to pull the car.

I pulled over to check for obvious signs of loose things under the bonnet, there were none. Fired it up again and it went like stink, no coughs/splutters just nice noise and full power for 10-12 miles or so, then it started again. I was near home so struggled back.

Haven't had time to look at anything yet, but any pointers/ideas would be appreciated from those in the know..........TT

Well tivs are funny things, took it out for a spin and tried to emulate yesterdays driving. Not a hiccup or cough anywhere. Certainly happy its running but don't like having a potential breakdown waiting to happen.

No sign of anything out of place or funny noises under the bonnet, intermittent faults are real head spinners rotate

My money is on that pesky multiplug connector near the ignition coil. Take my advice and replace it or do away with it. I just cut it out and made solder connections. Makes a huge difference.
