I knew it was dangerous booking this but it has forced me to pull my finger out.
I managed to properly re attach the rear bumpers last night, took a while to get the old rusty metal out, I then cut some bits of ally and slid them in, four new self tappers and jobs a good one.

I'm still waiting for my new rear springs and shocks to come, thats tonights job, I hoping it won't take long to change them over as I won't have to play around with spring compressors, any tips welcomed.

Apart from that I'm hoping for a pass.
In theory that should mean a well sorted S1 back on the road.

Chassis completely refurbed powdercoated and waxoiled (body off)
Suspension Bushes and joints all round
Refurbed trailing arms.
Refurbed brakes front and rear, new master cyclinder.
New fuel tanks cradle
Diff mounts, diff cleaned and painted (along with prop and gearbox)
Clutch slave cylinder
Fuel pump
Ignition module
Rebuild heads, engine cleaned and painted
Steve Heath ARB drop links
Exhaust mounts
Engine Mounts

The list goes on, but you get the idea. If it passes the front shocks will get done too.
I dread to think what this lot has cost in parts (haven't been keeping a tab), any idea what it would have cost if it had had all that done in a garage?

I'm looking forward to the next phase of driving and improving things (mostley cosmetics)
Roll on tomorrow (30 mile drive to daventry aggghhhhhh!) it will be my first drive!

Hope it goes well tomorrow Mike.

If you are going to Daventry are you taking it to Gugi's? If you are say hello from me and tell Dave his car is still bloomin'g great biggrin

I see you are in Northants. I'm "up north" in Rutland and I know there are a few others near us. If you fancy a run out email me through my profile and we'll try and sort something out wink

Cheers,
L'rs

Gugi's it is.
I'm left a little shy of the £s after the rear shocks so hoping the guys there will get it through with minimum fuss and cost.. here's hoping.

If it passes I'll need to build up some confidence in its reliability, I'm sure it will let me down on some silly things on the first few drives!

A drive out would be good, I get over to Market Harborough a fair bit so not far from rutland.
Its been a while since I did my driver training in an m5 haven't driven rwd properly since (7 years) so give me a week!

Who's the main man a gugi's, and what car does "dave" have?

Steve Guglielmi is the owner, Dave is his main mechanic and S series guru.

I was talking to them about upgrading some parts on my previous S a couple of years ago. Coincidentally Dave was on the point of moving house and needed some £'s. He also owned an S which he had some tasty mod's. After a brief chat my car was up for sale and I took Dave's off his hands biggrin

You'll be in safe hands with Dave wink
