Disappointing news on this book - I certainly wouldn't put it on my Xmas list and it may well appear at a boot fair near here at some point in the near future. OK to be fair it is a "lightweight" and has to cover the history of the marque and all the models within 160 pages or so - it was never designed as a comprehensive TVR history.
If you're buying it primarily for the "S" series chapter then the best advice I can give is don't. Even if you're a slow reader you'll probably polish off the text in under 5 minutes and the photos are all-but-one sourced from LAT archive so you'll see nothing new here.
Best analogy I can give - if Steve Heath's "S" series book is a surprisingly tasty 5 course meal in a slightly shabby restaurant this is a bowl of slightly stale twiglets in a trendy cafe-bar.
Factually things are a bit stretched. If you own an S2 pop out to the garage and check to see whether its developed front valance driving lamps overnight or a pair of cats under the bonnet - also don't forget it's October next month so might be a good time to fit the factory option hard top...

That's a useful comment - its off the list now but if I look at the other books John Tipler's is 192 pages, Iain Ayre is 160 pages which is the same as the Haynes one so myabe they aren't much better but then the content could be better - and more accurate. Anyone any info re that?
Off to put the hardtop on the S now ...the one as per the book

In defence of "Ever the extrovert", it's the seventh TVR book on my bookshelf, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. There was lots of old stuff, some new stuff, and the usual smattering of errors. Facts aside, Iain Ayre's books are my favourites (I like his style), but that's just a personal thing.
I expect it will be available in your local library soon, so you can have a 'free' read that way if you don't want to invest in a personal copy.
regards,
Graham

I have also bought a copy through ebay (£16.99) and I also have a number of TVR books.
I must say this one is as good as many of the others. I liked the sections are some of the rarer cars (TVR Tina, Trident etc), and small snippets on TVR people. Most photos I have not seen before.
Any TVR book is worth a read and after a turkey lunch on christmas day, what better way to spend the afternoon (along with a large whisky, preferably Laphroaig)
I would ask Santa
