Handbrake cable

In an effort to improve it's effectiveness, I replaced my handbrake cable with a new one recently.
For those who don't already know, it's the same as a Sierra type (drum brake), but a bit shorter in the length of cable and sleeve/outer; I simply cut (using an angle grinder)the wire at about half way, pulled the wire part way out of the sleeve/outer, which needs to be cut a bit shorter on one side too (measure the old one), and then used 4 small U shaped wire cable clamps (from my local hardware / iron-monger) to re-join it to the correct length.
£12 instead of £40+, if you can get a proper one, that is!
I now have a spare/ used/dirty greasy one, (and a standard non lsd diff), if anyone wants them!
Even with new brake shoes (also from a Sierra 2 litre+ type) it is still almost useless though, esp. for handbrake turns.
