Could I do it?

How easy is it to fit a new carpet? Mine could do with being changed as it is very faded and threadbare. I am considering buying some thin (ish) corded carpet and using my old one as a template.

I do think it looks easy (but those are my famous last words)

Any tips?

Not that hard if you get a supple carpet - my story for it is on my website - takes about 2 evenings (strip) and a full day (refit) with some sewing of trim in the middle. Cost me under £60 all in.

Beware the pitfalls of using the old ones as templates. You may find that they simply fall apart when you try and remove them and it becomes a lot more tricky to make up the new bits to the same shape.

If i remember correctly, someone on here has a set that he said he would
post to anyone to use as templates, then post back for the next person.

I replaced all my carpet with some nice stuff I got cheap at a car show.
Didn't really have any problems, just make sure you have plenty of spray adhesive and labelled up all the wires if you are removing the dash.
Removing the old carpet wasn't much of a problem. If your are using the old stuff as a template, use a hairdryer to heat the carpet as you pull it out, it softens up the old glue and reduces the chances of tears.

Thanks for all of your advice, it certainly makes me confident to try. The firt job however is to get the car up and hammerite the underneath. This will be my project for the winter but it is something I am not looking forward too.
