S3 Temperature Gauge markings

Following a major overheating problem when stuck in traffic on the Severn Bridge I found that the fan motor had bruned out.

I've fitted a temperature adjustable Kenlowe fan and want it to come on at around 90c but I'm not sure where this is on the dial....

Is 90c when the needle is horizontal or is it when it's near the small white mark just below the red?

I'm playing safe and have set the fan to cut in at the horizontal mark at the moment. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have an S2 so not sure the gauges are the same but my fan kicks in when the needle is a few degrees above horizontal, fairly closeto the line. Even in traffic when it's hot the needle never passes the little line, just about touches it before the temperature drops down again.

Sounds like you may want it set a tiny bit hotter but then again no 2 TVRs are the same!

Same here, horizontal or slightly above, never yet touched the line which I reckon is max. ie 100 degrees

My S3C normally sits with the needle horizontal with the fan coming in when it is a little above that; ie same as per above posts.

I've always thought that the white line is 90°. It usually runs up to just below the line and the fan drags it back down (same as orange_dodo).

Agreed.

There can be slight variations with lights on or off as well.

Mine gives the white line as 90° with lights on and about 2mm lower with lights off.

Thanks all, I think I'll tweak the fan to come on just below the line - it's getting a bit nippy in the footwell at the moment!

Yeah the walnut dash is

probably not quite as nice as yours though!
