boot interior woes...

Hi,

Recently had my S resprayed (after someone scraped the side of it). Opted for a total respray which involved removing trim etc. The paint shop have pulled off the carpet from around the edges inside the boot and sort of just shoved it back in without reglueing. The carpet itself is still in good nick, but not sure if it is possible to reglue it successfully.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so - did you use evostick type contact adhesive or something else? Want to make a decent job of it but fear it could be a messy one.

hi, evostick contact adhesive is fine. be careful as the carpets are very thin and if you put too much on the glue seeps through. do it a bit at a time, you'll get used to putting the right amount of glue on.

Or take it back to the body shop and tell them to finish the job

To be Honest, mine are like that... are you sure the carpets were stuck right up to the edge? I can pull the carpet back to reveal the wiring and the ahem... "secret" and everything just tucks back in place without causing any problem...

Velcro is your answer.

Strip of self-adhesive velcro on interior of boot body work between the light clusters, dots of self-adhesive opposite vecro on carpet.

Work from the centre out to left and right and tuck the top edge of the carpet up into the void and it all looks nice.

Allows for a tidy up without making future access impossible.
