Front brake hose S3

Hi All,

I am planning to replace all brake hoses and found the front ones going through a bracket.
It seems the bracket opening is too small for a new hose to feed through.
It is just one hose from chassis to caliper.

Of course I could cut an opening in the bracket but it seems a strange construction as it was built by TVR.

Or am I missing something ?

I cant find it but Barkychoc posted a great picture of his front brake layout a while ago, perhaps a PM to him might help

This is the set up on my S3, I would think that passing the hose through the bracket may cause it to fail prematurely.

Pretty much the same pic really, I really would look at changing that hose arrangement.
The long flexible hoses are Triumph TR7 if you can get any.

WOW !! clean chassis, looks good !! It seems like the hose is there for some time, its protected by a grommet and there are not wear marks on the hose. I own the car for 2 years and was wondering if this is original TVR fitment.

I will check the other side of the hub if your setup is possible on my car.

Well, in fact TVR Carparts already supplied me a set of 4 braided hoses (from HEL). But unfortunately the rear ones were supplied metrical (M10x1,0) 50 cm long, where I need Imperial 25 cm long (rear drums). The front were also supplied M10x1,0 and 70 cm long, where I need Imperial and 50 cm long.

Looking at your pics I am now wondering what thread is on the caliper side ??

And as Chris has said in the past if you change the hose layout you need to inform your insurance company as it would be a modification

Dutch insurance companies are not so strict, they don't bother.

With the advent of the EU could I insure my car in Holland? And would it be cheaper????

Mike (Philpot) recommended them.

I got a complete vehicle set of braided hose for my S2 for about £65. What impressed me most was that the lady who answered the phone knew more about the exact kit that I needed than I did. Asked about disc or drum rear and absolutely nailed what I needed.
Parts were mailed out in about a week and fitted straight out of the box.
Worth a call IMHO.

Sure you can ! Although since when is England part of the EU ??

I pay Euro 250,= a year (car is insured for 10.000= Euro) with limited mileage (5.000 km )

I already saw this link in the FAQ from Barkychoc. Since I had good experiences with TVR Carparts , I ordered a set (from HEL) through them. The set I have now is metric all round, after a phone call with Neil they will sent a new set free of charge. Front metric and rear imperial.

Hi All,

Just about finished from an outrigger replacemnt/body off & I have bought a set of HEL braided hoses. Now I was expecting them to be a straight forward unbolt & replace but it seems not to be.
I have 4 hoses, 2 shorter than the others (for the back I presume). The set up/arrangement is identical to the pics in this thread (long flexi inside a coil to a short copper on to a short rubber flexi one on the caliper), but the HEL hose length seems to match none. Is this supposed to replace ALL 3 straight to the caliper, and if so how do you hold it captive - surely the MOT guy won't like it simplt tie wrapped?

Have seen them just passed through the hole where the short copper pipe goes but the original layout would be to my taste
