Poly Bushes

I bought poly bushes for the wishbones (and ARB) from TVRcarparts and they look very nice quality (if a bit purple ) and I was wondering if the same bushes can be used as replacements on the Koni shock absorbers as they are an exact fit - any opinions/experiences ?

My Konis were replaced just a few years and not many miles ago so I have no plans to change them.

I can't see why not Kevin - Avo's come with poly bushes.

Not sure who's bushes they use I think it's superflex though, they only seem to list the same ones. Wishbone bushes probably aren't the same stiffness as the ones used for shocks.

I would try contacting chris at superflex.co.uk, he'll know if they do one for koni shocks (they probably do).

That was my thinking but the doubts I had I suppose was that the wishbone bushes are two piece and that the forces they would see on a wishbone would be more rotational than the more direct force on the shockers.

As you say Steve I could ask Superflex - or even Tvrcarparts for that matter... I just wanted the opinion of the sages here first

Given a choice I would use a single piece bush for a shock, In my experience two piece ones tend not to last quite so well in that sort of application. I use superflex bushes everywhere on most of my cars except the shocks on the tvr which have nice shiny spherical bearings.

WOW ! big brother was watching this morning Neil called me and has discussed the matter with Superflex and will be supplying me with a set of Poly Shock Absorber bushes for £34.71 (+VAT) for a set of four (I'm just doing the fronts at the moment and will look at the rears later this winter) which is much better than £26.50/shocker for the original bushes.

They are two piece just like the wishbone bushes.

Result !

Hmmm... I remember seeing that post, thanks Jed... maybe I'll fork out for the proper bushes for the rears... at the bottom at least. I wonder if the damage is limited to AVO's and if my Konis would be as bad - I suppose I'll need to take a close look at the bushes that are on the car now and then make my final decision.
