Hello to all my fellow S owners. It was me on the M18 in my recently purchased S3, I was driving it back from Solihull and I am pleased to say it didn't miss a beat all the way home back to Market Weighton. It is my first TVR and I am brand new to this forum as of today! I have lots of questions and a thirst for knowledge of my new baby!
The S is currently in my garage waiting for some decent weather for me to give it a good look over at my friends garage. I am also planning to join the Car Club and meet up with like minded TVR enthusiasts aswell and broaden my knowledge of the S series.
The car is a 1991 on a H the body was taken off in 2008 when it had a new fuel tank frame plus chassis overhaul (outriggers sorted) so I am hoping thats the majority of any major chassis work...big bills sorted. The car has done 72k and only done 2000miles in 9 years supported by full history, so its either been broken during that time or simply not used. No other major faults found yet but as I say I want to get it on a ramp. Lots of little jobs planned but best to see if any mechanical work needs doing first.
I will apologise now for all the daft questions I may ask, but as I am new I hope you will not be to hard on me.
Bye for now - Damon

Hi Damon,
Welcome to the world of TVR ownership. The best purchase you can make!
Loads of top people on this forum who are always here to help and advise.
Agree with Norman The Steve Heath bible is a useful guide and I personally rate the Club as well and enjoy the monthly mag as it has the odd handy 'S' article.
Cheers, Stu

Hi Damon
Good to have another S in the area.
East Yorks PH meet up once a month at the Triton, Brantingham, also have the Wetwang chippy run in the summer months. Get on the regional Yorkshire forum and say hello.
The local Eytvrcc meet at the Half moon, Elloughton 3rd thursday of the month.
All good people.
This is one of the best forums on PH by the way. Troll free just don't mention indicators or rad caps

Hi Damon.
I too am a newbe as I picked up my S on Saturday, it is my first TVR as well. Everyone has been very welcoming. I have a copy of the Steve Heath manual which came with the car (cheers Jim)and it is worth having. Spent Saturday night reading it (sad I know, but better than watching Come Dancing or X factor).
Cheers,
Stew.

Hi Guys and thanks for the warm welcome. Re the bible also got one with the car and also read most of it. Re the rad caps read that post with great interest as when I purchased mine I noticed some slight leakage after the test drive and assumed it was a dodgy cap!! As it didn't overheat on the test drive I didn't think it was too much of an issue. I did envisage this to be one of the first jobs to address and so after reading the bible and the recent post I then went to the garage to check mine, guess what....a none pressure cap on the swirl pot and a pressure cap on the expansion tank!
Not swapped them yet but given the advise from you guys I think I need to swap them over and give her a run and see what happens. For info my expansion tank has the unused sensor fitted as also picked up that the issue was originally raised following a sensor being blown out?
Have I opened up the worm box or am I on the right path?

Hi Damon. I suspect that the catch tank was overfilled originally leading to the leakage after a run. I kept on refilling mine thinking that I must have a problem but it kept on blowing out all but about 2" of water in the catch tank.
So I just leave it like that and it seems happy enough. Hasn't even come close to overheating on some hard (enjoyable) runs out with Cerbs, Griffs, Saggys, Tamoras, etc (okay so I like to namedrop).
AND the 'little' 2.9 S manages to keep up with them all in normal on road conditions.
Fantastic smiles per gallon rating.
