Whilst my propshaft is off I thought I'd change the rear oil seal, the thing is no matter how hard I try I can't get the old seal out it is like its welded in or something, its effing tight, has anyone else had a problem ?

They're just very tight, you'll have to basically destroy it to get it out, hammer an old screwdriver or similar into it and peel the little tinker out.

Socket the right diameter to tap new one in

Thanks for your help Mike, I have just been and got a special tool for the job so hopefully I can sort it tonigh. If not then I might have to take the gearbox off to gain better access.
Cheers.....Tony..

As the diff and propshaft are out at the moment I'm looking to replace the rear oil seal on the gearbox as there has been a small drip for ages.

Is this:

correct oil seal for a 1992 S3?

Cheers,

Steve
