Becoming strangely more interested in my heater lately as I use the car daily. It does get nice and warm but the pipes from the heater to the footwells just end in the footwell on the drivers side and in the area where the ECU and the fuses live on the passenger side. Is this normal on the S3 or should there be proper vents. No sign of any on mine, though I haven't looked behind the carpet.
Would appreciate words from the wise.

Rob, I've got a couple of pipes like this on my S2. But they don't seem to move any air out?
I have assumed that they were air inlets to the heater, e.g. permanent recirc?
Both Screen and Car selections seem to pump air out to the screen area.
I would also like info from someone who actually knows please.

My S2 has pipes that just end in the footwells. Put the heater on cabin and they put out hot air. The vents on the dash are for cold air, so as far as i know its normal to have the pipes in the footwell, but im sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to confirm or deny.

Where would the footwell vents be if one had them?

Kevin is right for the S3's, the ones I've seen have had "fitted" vents installed. However all of the S2's I've owned have the less elegant arrangement of the corrugated plastic tubing that is left dangling in the footwells. Having said that I'm sure that there are early S3's out there with the S2 pipes. TVR model standardisation, eh?!

Got those on my early S3 but nothing blows out when fan is on, think they are (on my car anyway) just fresh air "eye balls" like the two on the centre console ?(which are deffinately fresh air coz when one of the plastic ducts touched against the exhaust manifold car soon filled up with grey very smelly smoke ! )K
with slider over to "demist" lots of hot air out of screen vents and the little vents each end of dashboard. Slide over to "cabin" and can hear some change in sound, still lots of air on screen and also a little bit now blows out from somewhere behind dash/centre console ?
