To insure or, or not to insure?
Discussion
So now I'm 21 I can insure the TVR. I've got to get some money together first, and this has left me with a dilema: do I insure it in the next month or so, in the middle of winter, or do I wait until February/March and insure it then? My reason is that I don't want the road salts to ruin the chassis (which is, by all visual checks, and also feeling for rust and erosion) in very good nick. On the other hand I don't want it to become unwell due to lack of use. What do you the S series massive think?

I've always enjoyed driving mine in the Winter - roof off on dry, clear winter nights is fantastic
Just wash off the salt when you get home.
That does sound good, but as my interior fan is broken, I expect I may freeze to death ;-)

Where abouts should I be looking for salt build up? I've heard it gets into all the nooks and crannies and is incredibly difficult to get out. Someone also said to use a power washer (on a low setting), to get it off.....is this correct? I need to find a power washer if it is!

Just google 'MG owners club spares' for the best prices

Always worth having it insured even if its not being driven - don't forget the adverse effects of (to name but a few) - fire, theft, falling trees, a nest of mice, exploding paint pots or (to be topical) wronged wives/girlfriends armed with a golf club.
The latter wouldn't be a problem.....and it's needless to say, anyone who damages my TVR would be suitably damaged themselves. NOBODY touches Trevor.
Only had mine a couple of weeks and plan to use it most weekends and hose it off if need be. Took it to work last week and managed to bottom it out on 2 speed humps - bugger!
On the plus side, had the back end come out on me yesterday but unlike my old capri days some 20 years ago, managed not to take out a post box which is definately not a bad thing!

It's a pussy cat. I've had it on private roads and this happened when I braked for a pigeon coming out of a corner, and the back end got a bit interesting, but was easily brought back into line. As for the MGB heater, are you sure it's off an MG? I thought it was off a ford?
