door strips

its been a while noW since i took my door cards off
did not take much notice how they fit on(DOOR STRIP)
got 2 refurbed thanKs NORMAN for finding them
they have no fixings does the head of a bolt slide in the back

Tinks if no-one else comes up with a pic in the meantime I'll go and get my old door strips out of the garage & take a pic.
I think the bolts have square heads that slide into the channel on the back.

My strips are pretty rough. Any tips on how to refurb them?
Is it as simple as getting some wood effect sticky back plastic ( a la Blue Peter) and sticking it on?

oops, should have tried the search properly. Have found the info. Kent is a long way just for door strips, anyone know who in the West Midlands does a similar job?

Mine were "wood effect" but thought they looked a bit out of place, there being no other wood in the interior, so painted them a sort of gun metal grey.

He appears to be the only one in the country able to do them. The strips will post OK but i had to take and collect dask - long way from midlands. But he did a fantastic job

Chapman and cliffe re veneered mine last year and did an excellent job, for about £120 the pair, sounds dear but the finish was worth it.

You're right - the trim is a c-shaped channel with a tiny square bolt in the back and a screw and washer through from the front (which is the back when it's on the car if you see what I mean).

I did mine by taking the stips off the door trim and then stripping the wood finish off and just polishing them - they are a lovely alloy underneath!

I did the old strip off and polish trick but I really wanted them back to original, I didnt think the cost too bad considering the work needed to re-veneer, and the out come was more than worth it in my eyes.

My solution was to remove what was left of the original finish and paint them to match the exterior, which was a cheap fix and looks great to me

I like the painting body colour idea.. isis blue over grey should look pretty good.

Do I need to take the door cards off to get these off or will the slide off somehow..?

Its door cards off, they are held on by a few little nuts (all covered in glue on mine)

I covered my trim strips in "sticky-backed plastic" (as they used to call it on Blue Peter) - actually adhesive foil used for car trimming.

A guy I used to work with got some shrink wrap type stuff to do his dash with (Mitsubishi FTO not an S)- I don't know if it would work for the door trims and what patterns are available.
I was pretty sceptical but I have to say the result was pretty good.
He got it from halfrauds I think, I'm not sure of the exact procedure to fit it but I do know he then shrinked it with a hairdryer to make it a tight fit.
