Swirl Pot Question

Forgetting the argument over the caps, and assuming that the pressure release one goes on the expansion tank not the Swirlpot, can anyone think of a reason why when making a new swirlpot, I cant simply put a bleed nipple (or blanking plug)on the top of the swirlpot and use the expansion bottle to fill the system?
Given that the expansion vessel will be higher than the top of the swirlpot.It would make it so much easier to manufacture the swirlpot if it didn't have to have the neck for a pressure cap.

Can't see why it shouldn't work (and look better), could even put a little pattern on it like a Cortina Mk1 rear cluster .

Think this is basically what my Chimearas got, might be worth trying to get a look at one ?

In theory there should be no issue as long as the expansion bottle is up to the job unlike stated in the TVR tech note and you fit the pressure cap there. But as you know I believe that note was spouting se unless you have the expansion bottle with the poor sealing of the sensor hole (mine doesn't have a sensor hole before anyone jumps on this)

It shoud'nt make any difference to the operation of the system, but filling and bleeding will probably be a right pain as the pipe is so small between the expansion tank and the swirl pot. I would build a large tapped boss in the top to take a blanking plug to aid system fill up.

Yes, will do, that has to be easier than fitting a pressure cap neck which I cant buy in stainless.
