Dealers don't want to know!!

I've e-mailed 4 dealers about their S2 & S3 cars and 3 haven't bothered to reply. Is it because I queried the condition of their outriggers?
The S2C in Brum was particularly nice, I contacted them twice without a response
The one that did reply (POA)wanted £7950 (Chimaera territory)

Maybe I should buy a Focus

Where they specialist TVR dealers? I think you probably scared them to death with your questions. BTW there wasnt a S2C ever so they might not know of what they speak

No, they weren't specialist TVR dealers, but good class Sports car dealers. (if such a thing exists)
Cardiff is a good 4 hours from me, a fair trip to maybe find it's Knackered.
The V8 is really more than I (my wife) want to pay. But if you hear of any others, please let me know.

Hi Bedders.
Don't know why this has been up for sale for so long. I bought mine in November and was tempted to have a look at this one but got another one instead. It was up for about £5,500 if I remember correctly, so they are coming down with the price. Give it 12 months and they might pay you to take it!
If it is any good they might be open to an offer as they have had it up for sale for quite a while?

Hi Stew,

it rather suggests, that something lurking underneath (round with a hole through the middle)is shot.
Perhaps they're hoping that a non enthusiast will come along & just look at the shiny paintwork. Still a decent buy i'd thought, even if the outriggers did need work.

From the photo's I would say worth a look. It does look good. Not sure about the gearlever but thats just a personal thing, but was interested when the price was higher. As mentioned, the only reason I did not, was I found one which I think is a good one so never made it there.
As its a dealer, they may have a ramp which would be handy to aid inspection.

I went to look at the blue S2 in Brum. The service history is immense and complete with notes from previous owners on how to drive the car. Purports to have 205bhp from a sports cam etc....
The guys selling the car seemed honest. Quite a few stone chips and a the guys would service the car prior to sale. No good for me as S2 doors not long enough.

Well, thanks for that, I'm only a short arse 5'-11" so the shorter doors probably wouldn't bother me too much.
Apart from the stone chips, everything else seemed OK? It's certainly a good price.

It's possible though I'd like to see a power graph (if he knows what the peak BHP is, he must have one). A peaky cam change, good port matching and head work, and a full remap. My car is rather noticeably faster on pickup on higher revs with just a fast road camshaft kit from Kent Cams (comes with nice camshaft with a lift of 7.11mm (standard has a 6.77mm lift), cam followers, stiffer valve springs and cam lube and timing disc) and light porting and runs well even without the remap. The cam change is a good mod

Bedders; I know of a V8S not advertised anywhere that the owner is thinking of selling, he's had it some years and was in good nick when I last saw it 2 years back. Let me know if you're interested and I'll email him.

I am trying to convince him it's a daft idea to sell though!

One way to look at it. Offer them £3,750 - £4,000 for the car.
They will sell it for that and maybe a little less.
If nothing is wrong with the outriggers then you will probably have a good car. (with fsh)
If, the outriggers are not 100% get them done. Somewhere between 1-2 grand i understand.
Then you have a bullet proof S for £6,000.
What else are you going to get for the money.

I suspect they either dont understand about outriggers or simply cant be a$$$ed to reply.
Seems a shame to worry about them though worry about the car.
Also, 4 hours drive for the possible right cat isnt too bad is it ?

I wasn't sure if you'd get 205 bhp from a cam....! The car also needed a couple of tyres(perishing) and the seats seemed to be vinyl rather than leather (I don't know if this was an option when new.)Doors didn't seem to have any drop. It has an aftermarket cat1 alarm which is very loud. I didn't look at the chassis as I had decided that I needed an S3 and didn't want to waste the guys time. Hope this helps.

If it helps, i am 6 foot 3 , 98kg (big boned not fat !), and have never had a problem getting in and out of my S2.

reckon would have to be a pretty wild cam to gain that sort of power, think Kent and Piper claim 12/15bhp gain from a fast road cam, now even presuming engine was giving its full claimed 170 (which may be a little ambitious ?)would need a lot more "fettling"than just a cam to get over 200 (imho)
