Took my S2 for its MOT today, it sailed throught the emissions, the mechanic commented on how good the chassis was , and then it failed on excessive judder in the front brakes, warped disc on the N/S.got on the while he wrote the fail ticket and sourced a pair at a silly low price from CES..Looks like tomorrow will be spent fitting them , along with some new calipers I picked up a while back at an equally low price.

Hmm... warped disc..? I think we've done this before in the past. See this:

www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/warped_rotors_myth.htm

Isn't it more likely that one of the pads was shimmying about under braking or something..?

Cheers
Matt.

Warped disks are unlikely, were they measured using calipers or do they just judder a bit.

If so you can usually fix them by giving the brakes a good caining. Read M@H's thread, it worked for Dads XK8 with the same problem.

Thanks for the comments guys. I checked the discs out and the N/s one was just on its minimum thickness. so I fitted new ones and the calipers and pads.
