Working on the car today, thinking MOT next W/end and noticed this





Yup, that made my day.

So i thought i would put the roof back on and kill myself.

Thinking don't put heavy roof panels on the broken back part, slot into the front and lift back up to meet. Just as i was going to fit drivers side the passenger side popped out, just imagine the weight pulling back on the windscreen, then POP! in a mini second, no weight pulling back on the screen.

20 mins later..............i saw this








This is now worse, so i need to do more than just kill my self, all suggestions

Gutted for you mate! What a nightmare. As for suggestions I don't think any reputable MOT station would pass with a screen damaged to this extent. Best get the man from Autoglass on the case...PRONTO! Just think of the nice shiny screen as for the other damage best wait for experts on here but maybe a temporary repair in the interim. Someone on here had a spare hoop the other week I,m sure, and windscreens are still available so although a bummer It could have been worse, it could have been a broken Indicator lens. Or it could have gone whilst you were moving and it all getting ripped off.
Just a thought to get you through the summer and save buying a new canvas could you not line the broken pieces up and use a router to mill a groove across the break, then push in a steel bar and fill with resin, gotta be worth a try and saves £?s on a new canvas till winter maybe

Absolute bummer John, I hate it when a relatively minor job turns into a major one, geuinley gutted for you mate. However if you take a step back with a cup of tea and think about it for a bit a, the windscreen is an easy fix which should only cost you your excess and b, there have been a few S's broken recently (cue Norman)and whilst I apreciate the rear hoops are not common they are out there somewhere surely c, at least you now know that your old hoop was very weak and that you have inadvertantly indentified a possible future safety problem

Cheers to all you guys, this is my ghost speaking, lol, thanks for the good ideas.

Think i'll save killing myself til next winter, when i'm on my back in snow doing something that should've gone wrong in the summer.

Take a deep breath, say f-it several times, sleep on it. And start again in the morning. We've all had experience of projects which go badly wrong. As long as it is only a question of money and not someone being hurt - its only a problem. Best of luck.
